Alloy 20 Sheets and Plates consist of roughly 35% nickel, 20% chromium, 3–4% copper, and 2–3% molybdenum based on iron as a base. The alloy is stabilized with niobium for preventing intergranular corrosion. This mixture gives very good resistance to sulfuric acid and other aggressive chemicals. The material contains a tensile strength of about 620 MPa, yield strength of roughly 275 MPa, and elongation properties. Alloy 20 sustains mechanical integrity in acidic and chloride-bearing media, yet with good weldability, formability, and pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
