Stainless Steel 440B is composed of 16–18% chromium, 0.75% molybdenum, and 0.75–0.95% carbon, which together deliver remarkable hardness and moderate corrosion resistance after heat treatment. It can achieve tensile strength ranging from 760 to 1030 MPa, yield strength around 450 MPa, and high hardness levels (up to 58 HRC) when hardened. Although it’s not as corrosion-resistant as austenitic grades, it holds up well in dry and mildly corrosive environments.
