Stainless Steel 440B Angle is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel alloy. Its average composition consists of Carbon (0.75–0.95%), Chromium (16–18%), Manganese (1%), Silicon (1%), Molybdenum (optional), and trace elements such as Phosphorus and Sulfur. This grade possesses good hardness, tensile strength (around 740 MPa), and yield strength (around 450 MPa). It possesses good wear resistance and has moderate corrosion resistance after hardening. The metal can be heat treated for improving strength and hardness and thus finding usage in severe mechanical applications.
