17-4 PH Stainless Steel is a precipitation-hardened martensitic stainless steel consisting mainly of iron, with 15–17.5% chromium, 3–5% nickel, 3–5% copper, and small amounts of manganese, silicon, and niobium. This alloy has excellent tensile strength (up to 1100 MPa), yield strength (up to 1000 MPa), and great hardness following heat treatment. It also exhibits good corrosion resistance in mild as well as in chloride-rich environments. 17-4 PH maintains strength and toughness over a wide range of temperatures and is readily weldable and machineable in all tempers.
