Stainless Steel 316 Foils contain around 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, which provide greater corrosion resistance and strength. The material contains tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of around 40%. It possesses excellent toughness even at cryogenic temperatures and is not magnetic in the annealed condition. SS 316 foils also exhibit good weldability and formability. Molybdenum addition confers enhanced resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, so it is best used in harsh and stringent conditions.
