Stainless Steel 316L Foils consist of a content of around 16-18% Chromium, 10-14% Nickel, 2-3% Molybdenum, and up to 0.03% Carbon, with Iron forming the remaining portion. This low-carbon version has greater resistance to corrosion, particularly in chloride conditions. Mechanical properties are of the order of 170 MPa for yield strength, tensile strength of 485-620 MPa, and elongation of 40%. The foils have very good ductility, formability, and weldability and thus can find applications in a broad variety of demanding uses.
