Stainless Steel 317 Channel is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum composition used to enhance the corrosion resistance. It generally contains 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, and traces of manganese, silicon, and carbon. Mechanically, it offers a tensile strength of about 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation ratio of about 35%. The alloy retains strength at high temperatures and provides superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical exposure. It is further associated with good weldability and formability and is therefore highly appropriate for structural and fabrication purposes in aggressive conditions.
