A precipitation-hardened chromium-nickel alloy, stainless steel 17-7 PH is composed of low carbon (≤0.09%), aluminium 0.75–1.5%, nickel 6.5–7.75%, and chromium 16–18%. Heat treatment gives it great strength and hardness. The alloy has an elongation of roughly 6–10%, a yield strength of about 1170 MPa, and a tensile strength of up to 1310 MPa. 17-7 PH is perfect for applications needing both high strength and dimensional stability under mechanical stress and fluctuating temperatures because it retains good formability, excellent fatigue properties, and moderate corrosion resistance.
