About 18–20% chromium and 8–12% nickel make up stainless steel 304 and 304L coils and slitting coils. 304L has less carbon (<0.03%) to enhance weldability. They also contain trace amounts of silicon, sulphur, phosphorus, and manganese. These grades have an elongation of 40% or more, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of approximately 515–750 MPa. The coils are perfect for applications that need strength without compromising flexibility or weld performance because of their exceptional corrosion resistance, good formability, and non-magnetic qualities when annealed.
