These plates have excellent mechanical properties: Tensile Strength of 400–510 MPa, Yield Strength of ≥ 245 MPa, and Elongation of ≥ 20%. SS400 has good weldability, machinability, and toughness, which makes it suitable for structural purposes. The material is also good in formability and moderate corrosion resistance in the atmosphere when properly coated.
