SA 516 Grade 65 is a weldable carbon steel plate with high tensile strength, commonly containing 0.25-0.28% carbon, 0.27-0.65% manganese, and traces of phosphorus and sulfur not greater than 0.035%. It has a minimum tensile strength of 70 ksi (485 MPa), yield strength of 38 ksi (260 MPa), and elongation of 21% in 2 inches. The composition has good toughness and corrosion resistance and is well suited for boilers and pressure vessels to be used at moderate and lower temperatures.
