Aluminium 5005 is an aluminum-magnesium alloy with around 0.8% magnesium, 0.3% silicon, 0.2% iron, and traces of others. It is not heat treatable but has good corrosion resistance, particularly in marine and industrial environments. Its tensile strength is 190–230 MPa, yield strength approximately 110 MPa, and elongation 12–20%, as a function of temper. It also has superior anodizing properties and is well suited for use in decorative finishes. With excellent weldability, formability, and average strength, Aluminium 5005 is an adaptable option for numerous applications.
