Stainless Steel 321 is a titanium-stabilized, 17–19% chromium, 9–12% nickel containing austenitic stainless steel with the addition of titanium in an amount at least five times the amount of carbon. It is produced to be resistant to intergranular corrosion and to retain strength at high temperatures. SS 321 has a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40%. Having a density of 7.9 g/cm³, it has good creep and stress-rupture resistance, oxidation resistance up to 900°C, and weldability, which positions it for use in both high-heat and cryogenic applications.
