Inconel 601 is an alloy of nickel-chromium with aluminium additions that improve its resistance to oxidation. Normal composition is: Nickel (58–63%), Chromium (21–25%), Iron (balance), with traces of Aluminium (1–1.7%), Carbon (≤0.10%), and Silicon (≤0.50%). Mechanical properties are Tensile Strength ~80 ksi (550 MPa), Yield Strength ~30 ksi (205 MPa), and Elongation ~30%. The alloy has strength and toughness at high temperatures and good resistance to oxidation and carburization, which makes it suitable for rigorous environments.
