Stainless Steel 301 Foils have a maximum carbon content of 0.15% and roughly 16–18% chromium and 6–8% nickel. They also contain silicon, manganese, and trace amounts of phosphorus and sulphur. With a tensile strength ranging from 515 MPa to 1035 MPa depending on temper, this alloy is renowned for its quick work-hardening during cold forming. Under extreme cold-work conditions, yield strength can surpass 620 MPa. SS 301 is appropriate for forming operations because it retains good ductility and corrosion resistance. When cold worked, it turns magnetic after being non-magnetic when annealed.
