Its composition typically includes controlled amounts of carbon (max 0.18%), manganese (0.90-1.60%), silicon (0.10-0.50%), and trace elements like phosphorus, sulfur, and often micro-alloying elements (Nb, V, Ti) for enhanced properties. Mechanically, it offers a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa (51,000 psi) and a tensile strength range of 490-620 MPa (71,000-90,000 psi), with good impact toughness at -20°C.
