Alloy Steel 20 Channel, or Carpenter 20, consists of about 35% nickel, 20% chromium, 2–3% molybdenum, and 3–4% copper with the rest as iron. It is stabilized with niobium for resisting intergranular corrosion. Alloy Steel 20 Channel has superior resistance to sulfuric acid and chloride-stress corrosion cracking. The mechanical characteristics have a tensile strength of about 620 MPa, yield strength of about 275 MPa, and good elongation and toughness. Alloy 20 can be welded, shaped, and retains its structural integrity under high pressure as well as corrosive conditions.
