Aluminium 2014 is a heat-treatable alloy with about 4.4% copper, 0.8% manganese, and 0.5% magnesium, along with traces of silicon, iron, and other elements. It has good strength and hardness with a tensile strength of 430–520 MPa and yield strength of about 275–410 MPa. The alloy has good machinability but poor corrosion resistance, which in many instances requires surface treatment. With very high resistance to fatigue and thermal conductivity, Aluminium 2014 finds its best application in durability and high mechanical performance under stress or load conditions.
