Aluminium 3003 contains mainly aluminium (circa 96.7–98.7%) and manganese (1.0–1.5%) as the prominent alloying component, with traces of copper, iron, and silicon. It presents good resistance to corrosion and fine workability. The strength of the alloy is typically in the range of 140–200 MPa for tensile and about 115 MPa for yield, with 10–20% elongation. Aluminium 3003 sheets and plates are non-heat-treatable but can be cold worked for increased strength, making them suitable for applications requiring moderate strength and excellent formability.
