Aluminium 5005 is a magnesium-containing aluminium alloy with about 0.8% magnesium, 0.2% iron, 0.1% copper, 0.3% silicon, and minor constituents of other elements. It is relatively good in corrosion resistance, especially in industrial and marine atmospheres. In a mechanical sense, Aluminium 5005 has tensile strength of 190–230 MPa, yield strength of approximately 110 MPa, and elongation of approximately 12–20%, based on temper. Aluminium 5005 is not heat treatable but can be responded to by cold working. The alloy has good anodizing characteristics, weldability, and average strength and is suitable for decorative and functional applications.
