Aluminium 7075 Plates and Sheets contain mainly aluminium (90.0–91.5%), with major additions of zinc (5.1–6.1%), magnesium (2.1–2.9%), and copper (1.2–2.0%), in addition to minor elements. It has very high strength, similar to most steels, with a tensile strength of as much as 572 MPa and a yield strength of approximately 503 MPa. Although very strong, it still has good fatigue life and moderate machinability. It possesses limited weldability but good performance in high-stress conditions. The alloy is heat-treatable and provides a high strength-to-weight ratio, which makes it suitable for aerospace and structural use.
