Duplex Stainless Steel Sheets and Plates consist of about 22–25% chromium, 5–7% nickel, 3–5% molybdenum, and an equilibrated combination of nitrogen and manganese. The duplex (austenitic-ferritic) phase structure provides enhanced strength and corrosion resistance. The material has a yield strength almost double the general austenitic stainless steels, with tensile strength of 620 to 880 MPa. It also possesses superior toughness, weldability, and resistance to crevice corrosion and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. These qualities render duplex steel appropriate for harsh environments like petrochemical, marine, and chemical industries.
