High Carbon Steel Plates have a carbon content ranging from 0.60% to 1.00%, with minor amounts of manganese (0.30–0.90%), silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus. This makes the material harder and stronger, but less ductile and very wear-resistant. Its tensile strength is between 700 and 950 MPa, and the yield strength is usually approximately 500 MPa, which depends on heat treatment. These plates have good abrasion and deformation resistance but lower weldability than low and medium carbon steels. Their mechanical performance is improved by heat treatment like quenching and tempering.
