Significant additions of iron (17–21%), niobium (4.75–5.5%), and molybdenum (2.8–3.3%), along with lesser amounts of titanium and aluminium, are present in Inconel 718, a nickel-chromium alloy. Tensile strength of up to 1375 MPa, yield strength of approximately 1100 MPa, and elongation of 12–23% are just a few of its exceptional mechanical qualities. The alloy has exceptional fatigue strength, weldability, and creep resistance. Even at temperatures as high as 700°C, its resistance to oxidation and corrosion is unaffected. Because of these characteristics, Inconel 718 can be used in applications that call for high mechanical integrity under intense heat and stress.
