Its usual composition comprises carbon (≤0.12%), manganese (≤1.50%), silicon (≤0.75%), sulfur (≤0.03%), phosphorus (≤0.12%), supplemented by copper (0.25%-0.55%), chromium (0.30%-1.25%), and nickel (≤0.65%). Mechanical properties have minimum tensile strength of 480 MPa, yield strength of ≥340 MPa, and elongation of ≥21%. The steel forms a protective oxide coating that resists further rusting, making it more durable and low-maintenance even in the harsh outdoor environment.
