Kovar Sheets and Plates consist of nearly 29% nickel, 17% cobalt, and the rest iron, together with trace amounts such as manganese and silicon. Such a special composition provides Kovar with thermal expansion matching that of borosilicate glass. Kovar alloy has high mechanical strength with tensile strength of about 517 MPa, yield strength of nearly 414 MPa, and good ductility. Kovar is stable in temperature-sensitive applications and has a density of about 8.36 g/cm³. Due to these characteristics, it is suitable for glass-to-metal and ceramic-to-metal sealing applications in challenging environments.
