Phosphor Bronze contains mainly copper (88–95%), tin (5–11%), and a small amount of phosphorus (up to 0.35%). It has excellent fatigue resistance, good spring characteristics, and a good corrosion rate. It has tensile strengths between 300–800 MPa, depending on the temper, and has good wear resistance and machinability. The addition of phosphorus increases strength and deoxidation during manufacture. Phosphor Bronze Sheets and Plates retain their properties over a broad temperature range, which makes them suitable for both structural and conductive uses in extreme or dynamic situations.
