Sailhard Sheets and Plates are produced using a high-strength, abrasion-resistant carbon steel alloy. The general chemical composition is Carbon (up to 0.23%), Manganese (up to 1.6%), Silicon, Sulphur, and Phosphorus in allowable limits. These plates have good mechanical properties with a general tensile strength of 400–500 MPa, and a Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) of 200–250. The yield strength is approximately 250 MPa, providing superior resistance to wear and tear. These characteristics render Sailhard steel particularly suitable for applications subjected to impact and abrasive forces.
