About 14–15.5% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, 0.15–0.45% niobium (columbium), and very little carbon (maximum 0.07%) are present in stainless steel 15-5 PH. Through heat treatment, this alloy maintains good toughness in both longitudinal and transverse directions while achieving high strength. In the H900 condition, it provides a yield strength of about 1170 MPa and a tensile strength of up to 1380 MPa. Like 304 stainless steel, 15-5 PH has outstanding corrosion resistance and works well in mildly corrosive and marine environments. It has consistent mechanical performance at different temperatures and is simple to machine and weld.
