Stainless steel 305 has a very low carbon content (maximum 0.12%), small amounts of manganese and silicon, and 17–19% chromium and 11–13% nickel. The purpose of this austenitic grade is to preserve its non-magnetic qualities and optimise cold work hardening. With outstanding elongation and ductility, SS 305 has a tensile strength of 515–750 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa. It is perfect for deep drawing and forming operations due to its chemical composition, which also improves corrosion resistance. The alloy provides good toughness over a broad temperature range and maintains its stability in oxidising environments.
