The main constituents of stainless steel 305 are 17–19% chromium and 11–13% nickel, with very little carbon (maximum 0.12%) and silicon and manganese additions. Its formability and corrosion resistance are both improved by this composition. With outstanding elongation and ductility, SS 305 has a yield strength of about 205 MPa and a tensile strength of roughly 515–750 MPa. Unlike other austenitic grades, it retains its non-magnetic properties even after cold working.
