Stainless Steel 405 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy with around 11.5–14.5% chromium content and additional aluminum for improved oxidation resistance. It possesses lower carbon content for ease of weldability and minimization of hardening when exposed at high temperatures. SS 405 provides moderate strength, good ductility, and superior corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments. Average mechanical properties are tensile strength of 415 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of about 20%.
