Stainless Steel 409 Channel consists mainly of chromium (10.5–11.75%), iron, carbon (≤0.08%), and trace quantities of silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. It can also contain traces of nickel for improved performance. Mechanically, SS 409 has a tensile strength of about 380 MPa and yield strength of around 170 MPa, with elongation of about 20%. It is highly weldable, moderately corrosion resistant, and good in formability. Since it is ferritic, it resists the high-temperature and mildly corrosive environments, and thus, it can be used in automobiles and industries.
