Stainless Steel 430 is a ferritic grade of around 16–18% chromium and low carbon level (≤0.12%). It cannot be hardened by heat treatment and has good oxidation resistance and mild corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 450–600 MPa, yield strength of approximately 205 MPa, and elongation of about 22%. The alloy has moderate ductility, good thermal conductivity, and very good surface finish and is used in cold-forming and fabrication. It has structural integrity under reasonable mechanical stress and is less expensive than austenitic stainless steels.
