446 Stainless Steel is a chromium ferritic alloy with nearly 23-27% chromium, 0.2% carbon, and traces of manganese, silicon, and nickel. It provides good resistance against oxidation, corrosion, and scaling under high-temperature conditions. The alloy generally possesses a tensile strength of 485 MPa, a yield strength of 275 MPa, and elongation of 20%, with a Brinell hardness of approximately 150 HB. It has good thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion because of its ferritic characteristics. Its mechanical characteristics render it apt for strength and heat-resistance applications.
