About 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 4-5 percent molybdenum, and trace amounts of copper (1–2%), manganese, silicon, and low carbon (≤0.02%) are present in stainless steel 904L. Resistance to strong reducing acids, such as sulphuric acid, is improved by this high alloy composition. It has outstanding ductility and toughness, as well as a tensile strength of 490–710 MPa and a yield strength of ≥220 MPa. When annealed, 904L coils are non-magnetic and retain their strength even at high temperatures. They are perfect for fabrications that need to withstand harsh and corrosive environments because they are formable and weldable.
